چکیده

This special issue of JEMAHS with a focus on imperial architecture and identity is an elaboration workshop that took place at the University Helsinki's Centre Excellence in Ancient Near Eastern Empires brought together scholars from different disciplines—architecture, archaeology, history, social science, heritage studies—to discuss new interdisciplinary approaches to identities past societies role shaping them. Rightist Ritual, Memory and Identity Commemoration in Late Imperial Russia

This article explores how Russia’s right-wing groups drew upon concepts of memory and identity commemoration to inform their ritual practices. Their creation of various memorials, celebrations and cults represented a synthesis between conservative values of Orthodoxy, autocracy and Russian nationality, and a populist nationalist appeal that came to define the ideology and practice of the Russia...

An Introduction to Software Architecture

Software engineering is an inherently complex activity which involves the creation and manipulation of a large number of mostly intangible and highly dynamic artifacts: these can include requirement specifications, high-level software designs, source code, testing information, and post-deployment maintenance and evolution needs. An essential element of software engineering is the management of ...

Browser-based Identity Federation—An Introduction

Many people use web browsers each and every day. Whether for gathering information, reading news, consulting a map, or socializing with friends, the web browser is their trusted companion. The idea of such web-based services is simple: users request services through a web browser with basic capabilities, and then receive the resulting content transparently. In the verge of Web 2.0, the browser ...

An Introduction to Software Architecture

As the size of software systems increases, the algorithms and data structures of the computation no longer constitute the major design problems. When systems are constructed from many components, the organization of the overall system—the software architecture—presents a new set of design problems. This level of design has been addressed in a number of ways including informal diagrams and descr...

Design Architecture: An Introduction and Overview

Digital libraries evolved in response to the need to manage the vast quantities of electronic information that we produce, collect, and consume. Architects of such systems have adopted a variety of design approaches, which are summarized and illustrated in this chapter. We also introduce the following three chapters, and provide suitable background. From a historical perspective, we note that e...
